From Paris to Bruges

We have officially departed the “City of Love” and made our way over to the “Venice of the North”. We did everything a tourist could possibly do in both cities and enjoyed every bit of it.

Paris Highlights:

-Champagne toasts at the top of the Eiffel Tower and viewing the structure both during the day, and when it sparkled at night

-Walking throughout the Louvre and viewing some of the world’s most famous works of art.

-Biking around Versailles, with a picnic stop along the canal before checking out the massive palace and gardens.

Bruges Highlights:  No specific highlights, but we truly loved Bruges. We saw plenty for the short amount of time we had there, though the city’s atmosphere alone was enough for us to enjoy.  We climbed 366 steps to the top of the town’s bell tower, had some fun biking around and stopping at the town’s oldest pub (established in 1515), and certainly had our fair share of Belgian food and beer.

After all the cheese and charcuterie in Spain, fondue in Switzerland, and even more cheese in France, we are officially in a cheese coma.  Belgium was a good break in which we replaced our overindulgence in cheese, to Belgian beers and frites (and chocolates, and waffles)…but we’re definitely staying active so as not to completely let ourselves go 😉  Time to start building up our tolerance for the next stop…Oktoberfest in Munich!

Cheers!
